A Message of Support for Our Community

Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County

Our hearts go out to the entire Old West End community. We stand with you as we process the shock and pain.

The Old West End Festival is a cornerstone of our city — a historic event that has celebrated our community’s resilience, diversity, and spirit for well over half a century. To see a space dedicated to joy and togetherness disrupted by gunfire is heartbreaking.

We want to acknowledge that the impact of this tragedy extends far beyond those who were physically wounded. Whether you were directly present, witnessed the chaos, or are feeling the heavy ripple effects from afar — your reactions are entirely valid.

Events like this cause collective trauma, shaking our shared sense of safety and community. It is completely normal to feel a deep sense of grief, anxiety, or overwhelm right now.

You do not have to carry this weight alone. As the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County, we are here to support our community’s healing. If you or your loved ones are struggling, please reach out to these trauma-informed services.
